Entrance Criteria

Two-Way Bilingual Immersion - Entrance Criteria

All requests for placement in the Hawthorne School District Spanish Two-Way Bilingual Immersion will be made through the Ramona School English Learner Special Projects Teacher.  In order to provide the best possible program for all students the following criteria, in the order listed, will be adhered to when filling available spaces in the program. 

Kindergarten and Grade 1

  1. Balance - (10 EO, 10 EL/SEI-TELM, 10 FEP)
  2. Completed enrollment date (K) or completed program application date(1)
  3. Sibling in the program
  4. Ramona attendance area
  5. *** Please note that 1st grade English only students cannot begin after the 1st trimester).***

Grade 2

  1. No admission for English Only Students
  2. All others Woodcock Munoz Language Survey/Spanish / 4/5 Broad Ability
  3. Balance
  4. Completed program application date
  5. Sibling in the program
  6. Ramona attendance area

Grades 3-5

  1. No English Only
  2. English Learners CELDT of 3 or better
  3. Woodcock Munoz Language Survey/Spanish / 4/5 Broad Ability
  4. Grade level proficiency in English
  5. Balance
  6. Completed program application date
  7. Sibling in the program
  8. Ramona attendance area

Grade 6

  1. No English Only Students
  2. No English Learners
  3. Woodcock-Muñoz Language Survey Spanish 4/5 Broad Ability
