Welcome to the Network for a Healthy California!
HSD's Network for a Healthy California helps further the district's educational mission by fostering healthy behaviors among students and their families. The Network provides resources and training in the area of nutrition and health education for children, parents, teachers, administrators, and all HSD staff members.
Network efforts are focused on:
- increasing consumption of nutritious foods, including fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat milk products, lean meats, and healthy fats;
- increasing opportunities for active play and physical movement;
- supporting parents in their role as the child's first and most important nutrition educator;
- supporting HSD staff in their efforts as educators and role models;
- and connecting with community partners that encourage healthy behaviors.
Our mission is to link the cafeteria, classroom, and community to create school environments that reflect a commitment to the health and well-being of our students so they will be healthy, happy and ready to achieve their full potential.
We have volumes of resources and a team of experts to help you. Let us know what you need or how we can work together to improve the health of Hawthorne students and their families!
