Types of Bullying

Physical- involves hurting a person’s body or possessions

Examples:

  • Hitting/kicking/pinching
  • Spitting
  • Tripping/pushing
  • Taking or breaking someone’s things

Relational (also called Social)- involves hurting someone’s reputation or relationships

Examples:

  • Leaving someone out on purpose
  • Telling other children not to be friends with someone
  • Spreading rumors about someone
  • Embarrassing someone in public

Verbal- involves saying or writing mean things

Examples:

  • Teasing
  • Name Calling
  • Inappropriate sexual comments
  • Taunting
  • Threatening to cause harm

Cyber- involves writing or posting mean things online

Examples:

  • Sending unwelcome emails or text messages
  • Threats
  • Sexual harassment
  • Hate speech
  • Ridiculing someone publically
  • Posting lies, rumors, or gossip and encouraging others to distribute that information
