Groundbreaking Ceremony

On October 24th and 25th Groundbreaking ceremonies were held at Prairie Vista Middle School and Bud Carson Middle School. These events mark the beginning of the construction of a gymnasium at each site. The project is funded through the Measure H Bond passed in 2008 by the citizens of Hawthorne. These projects mark the conclusion of the project lists proposed to the voters. The gymnasiums will allow students and the community to enjoy all of the activities expected of an indoor gymnasium. Each gym will allow for basketball, volleyball, and many other sport and performance activities. The expected duration of the construction will be approximately eleven months. We look forward to the grand opening of these facilities in the early months of next school year. The Hawthorne School District appreciates the support of the community in providing the funds for these projects and looks forward to hosting many community events in each of the buildings.
