Supplemental Open Enrollment

ANNOUNCEMENT

2018-19 Supplemental Open Enrollment

With both HETA and HFCE recently approving the introduction of the Select and Vivity HMO plans into the District’s benefits options, we will now be conducting a supplemental Open Enrollment from October 4, 2018 through October 18, 2018 for a November 1, 2018 effective date for all medical plans.

We will be hosting Supplemental Open Enrollment meetings on October 9nd, 10th, 11th, and 16th from 3pm to 5pm at the District Office.  If you are unable to attend, we are also providing an updated enrollment guide and new online enrollment portal (EaseCentral) to assist you in evaluating your options and determining the best plan choices for you and your family.

During this supplemental Open Enrollment, you can make changes such as:

  • changing plan selection from HMO to PPO or vice versa;
  • adding or deleting previously waived dependents (spouse and/or children) to your coverage;
  • enrolling yourself and/or your eligible dependents for the first time.

What do you need to do?

If you are currently enrolled in the PPO plan and you do not wish to change to an HMO plan or if you are enrolled in Kaiser HMO and you do not wish to change to the Select or Vivity HMO plan and you are not making any other benefit election changes, you do not need to do anything during the supplemental Open Enrollment.

If you are enrolled in the Blue Cross HMO plan and do not wish to make any changes to your current benefits elections, you do not need to do anything during the supplemental Open Enrollment.  We will auto-migrate you and your dependents to the Select or Vivity HMO plan that matches your current primary care physicians and medical groups.

If you want to switch from Kaiser or the PPO plan to the Select or Vivity HMO plans, or if you want to make changes to your current benefits elections or to the plan that you are being auto-migrated to, you can make those changes online via EaseCentral or you can come to an Open Enrollment session to be assisted in doing so.

What is EaseCentral and how will it be used?

EaseCentral is an online system that allows users to view and manage benefit elections from the comfort of their home, workplace, or anywhere where they have Internet access.  The use of this system will be critical to managing all of the changes associated with the move to the Select and Vivity HMO plans prior to the November 1st effective date.

All eligible employees with HSD email addresses will receive an email on October 4th  inviting them to log into the EaseCentral portal at www.Hawthorne.EASECENTRAL.com.  We ask that you please log in and review both your personal profile and current benefit elections.  If you want to make any benefit election changes, you can either do so directly through the system between October 4th and October 18th or you can attend an Open Enrollment session to receive support in doing so.

Any eligible employees who do not have an HSD email address will be issued a document with a unique username and password to access the system on October 4th.

Note:  After the Open Enrollment period ends, you cannot make changes to your coverage during the year unless you experience a change in family status, such as:

  • loss or gain of coverage through your spouse
  • loss of eligibility of a covered dependent
  • death of your covered spouse or child
  • birth or adoption of a child
  • marriage, divorce, or legal separation
  • switch from part-time to full-time status

Reminders:

Open Enrollment Period: October 4, 2018 through October 18, 2018

Open Enrollment changes are due no later than October 18, 2018.
