Spelling Bee 2017
On February 22nd, the Hawthorne School District held its 11th Annual Spelling Bee for students in grades 4-6 at Hawthorne Middle School. Twenty contestants representing seven elementary schools and three middle schools competed on stage in front of an audience comprised of friends, family, and HSD staff. The students who competed in the district spelling bee were all winners of their classroom spelling bees and also winners or runner-ups in their school spelling bees.
After five heated rounds, Patrick Abada, a 4th grader from Kornblum School, won the competition. Patrick will go on to compete in the Los Angeles County Elementary Spelling Bee on March 29th.
